HIDDEN POND

HIDDEN PONDThis is number 10 in my 30 in 30 challenge, it’s moodiness is just perfect for this cool and dreary morning that lead to a wicked storm with hail pelting the deck.  But lo and behold the sun in shining at this moment with the sound of thunder in the background.  It has been a crazy monsoon season.

I love the depth of this painting which is created by putting pops of light colors in this instance turquoise next to patches of dark grey and blacks.  It is just layer upon layer of darks and lights until the right effect appears.  Not knowing what a painting will become until close to finish is exciting for me.  It is a very meditative process and my mindfulness of my surroundings always shows up in the painting.

I am loving this challenge as I journey through these 30 days one painting at a time.

MONSOON SUNRISE

Prescott Sunrise 2

“PRESCOTT SUNRISE”  16″ X 16″

I so love the monsoon storms that grace our Arizona Skies this time of year.  The cloud formations make such beautiful sunrises and sunsets.  The front of my studio faces east so each morning I can watch the sunrise. They are magnificent this time of year.  In all the years I have been painting I have painted a plethora of sunsets but never a sunrise so this was the time. I love how it turned out.

All the vegetation was done with a fan brush, one of my favorite tools. To create the depth and density of the shrubs and trees I used varying hues of blue and green. After these colors dried I added a reflection of the sunrise colors to the tips of some of the bushes.

This one is not for sale but if you want to see other beauties click here.

MONSOON LAKE

Monsoon Lake

“Monsoon Lake”  24″ X 24″ acrylic on 1 1/2″ gallery wrap canvas

The monsoon storms have set up a ferocious pattern in Northern Arizona.  It’s wonderful how much rain we are getting. The brilliant sunsets and the thunder and lightning crackling overhead, put an electricity and beauty into the environment that leaves a deep excitement and wonder.  The lakes are beginning to fill again, and the second bloom of wildflowers are starting to push through the soil.   What could show God’s blessing on this earth more than a monsoon?

As an artists this is the season of inspiration.  It is no wonder that I choose to paint one of our beautiful lakes during the monsoon. I love the energy of the monsoon and the colors that imprint on the sky, what better time than now for an artist that proclaim’s Positive-Energy Art.  It definitely resides on this website and here for you to enjoy.

Painting Arizona and the Southwest one adventure at a time.

Forgiveness, you can’t do it alone.

forgiven

“Forgiven”  8″ X 8″  Acrylic on 1 1/2 Gallery Wrap Canvas

I stumble through the darkness, for I have sinned yet God is near and hears my sorrow and shines mercy upon me.

Today I am reminded that forgiveness is a powerful tool to help each of us live a life full of   happiness.  It is not always easy to forgive  or let ourselves be forgiven; yet it is essential.  So it really takes two of us to forgive, me with the help of my partner God.

I need to be reminded of this often, which is the reason I painted this little beauty.  Mercy is given to all of us, just because…God loves us.

Go through your day today knowing that you are forgiven.  Forgive someone else, and you will have the heaviest of burdens lifted.

Sometimes I paint my faith, a way to worship for me.  Enjoy.
